Luxmi Estates Daruharidra Wellness Tea is a five-herb blend built around Berberis aristata - the Indian barberry species used in Ayurvedic tradition for over 3,000 years. Most barberry teas on the market use Berberis vulgaris, the European species. Ours uses daruharidra, the species documented in the Charaka Samhita and Sushruta Samhita and used in classical Ayurvedic formulations like Rasanjana for thousands of years.
The bright yellow color of the root comes from berberine, a naturally-occurring plant alkaloid that has drawn growing wellness interest in recent years. We pair it with licorice root for natural sweetness, peppermint and lemongrass for bright digestive freshness, and cinnamon for a warming, rounded finish. The cup brews into a golden infusion with earthy root depth, soft mint lift, and sweet cinnamon warmth - naturally sweet, no sugar needed.
