Luxmi is a family firm with 50,000 members in its family.
From the workers in the gardens to the corporate office, to the sales team on their beats, every employee is part of our family. It’s this nurturing of human potential that has sustained Luxmi for a century and more.
To better serve its communities, Luxmi has partnered with various organisations to promote education, health and community building. This work extends to support not just the pluckers but also other economically and socially challenged communities around the estates.
EDUCATION
the world is on loan from our children
The primary objective of the Trust is to focus on initiatives that help children reach their full potential and flourish.
The primary objective of the Trust is to focus on initiatives that help children reach their full potential and flourish.
The Trust works to provide access to education beyond the basics available to the children at the estates. What particularly stands out is the focus on children that show marked improvement in their academics. Luxmi rewards the efforts of these children - not just those who are already at the top of their class but those that have bettered their grades.
THE WORLD IS ON LOAN FROM OUR CHILDREN
Funds have been granted at the estates to the children for procuring books, courses and any other additional study material required.

Schools in Karimganj, Purulia, Narendrapur and Rahara were built or extended with Luxmi’s support.
At Nimpith, the last school before the Sunderbans, the Mission has been providing excellent educational facilities for students, especially for girls. The Trust helped set up the girls’ wing at the school with boarding on premises. The aim was to retain students that would otherwise drop out due to the poor transport infrastructure available around the marshland.

The program aims to encourage research about the Indian freedom movement in Bengal. This scholarship stems from Luxmi’s own genesis as a self-reliant company at the forefront of the freedom movement.
HEALTHCARE
Luxmi’s vision extends to protecting the vision of its communities, quite literally.
The Trust has helped set up an eye hospital through its substantial contributions of funds and land to the Sankara Nethralaya, Guwahati.
Regular health camps, eye check-ups and treatments have been arranged for the pluckers and their families, aiming to improve vision.
The Biseswar Chattopadhyay Trust, an affiliate body built in memory of Mr Dipankar Chatterjee’s grandfather, helped facilitate the establishment of PC Chatterjee Memorial Eye Hospital in Tripura. The lone eye hospital in the area, it has been providing all types of services at nominal costs.
AN EXCELLENT GOAL
Luxmi hosts an annual football tournament between its estates, to promote the sport and create opportunities for the youth.

The program is aimed at identifying young football talents from the tea garden communities. They are then groomed for district, State and National level competitions. Luxmi supports the teams by providing sports accessories and creating a platform for the young players to shine.
